Mr Mulch opened its doors in 1989 by Mark and Jane Wells in a small shed that is still located on the property as you enter our business.  In 2009 Clay Mohon acquired Mr Mulch with a vision to provide the Western Kentucky community with a full-service landscape and hardscape company and build on the foundation that had already been established.

Clay is a hometown boy born in Pembroke, KY where he spent his younger years right along side his dad working on the farm and later becoming partners with his dad until he passed in 1994.  From there with the strong work ethic instilled by his parents he knew he would make his mark on the business world.  Clay would then open a mowing business and fulfill state mowing contracts along the interstates and county roads while also raising tobacco and raising a growing family.  In 2009 his heart was leading him to spend more time with his family and be at home more while still doing something that he loved.  This is when he acquired Mr. Mulch and has since grown the business while offering more products and opening satellite stores around the Clarksville, Guthrie and Murray areas.

Clay is not only a successful business man but he is also the husband to Shea of 25 years and father to six amazing children. You will often see Zach running various company divisions and he is often the friendly voice you will find on the other end of the phone call. Macy is currently a nursing student at Murray State University where she is involved in many activities throughout the year. Maggie and Jonathan along with Bella and Braylee are currently students at University Heights Academy where they are involved in many of their schools sports teams and school activities.

Clay is a huge supporter of spending locally and giving back to his community as often as possible. He has a love for the work he does and a drive to keep making his business better year after year by educating himself in all aspects of the business so that he can pass that on to his customers.

Clay loves to take the time to know his customers and you will always find him somewhere on the yard involved in whatever is going on. If you see him be sure to stop him and introduce yourself. He wants to make sure all his customers leave with a smile on their face.
